Deaf Services Lanarkshire are very pleased to announce that they have received a National Lottery award from the Big Lottery Fund.

Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, Maureen McGinn, said: “I am delighted that Deaf Services Lanarkshire has been successful in securing a Big Lottery Fund grant. The funding will make a big difference where it is needed most and I wish Deaf Services Lanarkshire every success as it goes on to develop and expand its project for the benefit of their local community.”

 The centre manager, Eddie McLuskey, said “This grant will guarantee our services to the Deaf community for a further 2 years. The award of £140,000 over two years will pay for three new posts to support and develop services for the Deaf community.

Deaf Information Hub

Centre Coordinator

40 hours a week

£24,000 per annum

Based in Fountain Business Centre

Coatbridge ML5 3AA

Deaf Services Lanarkshire is a charity working with Profoundly Deaf Sign Language users.


The Centre Coordinator will require to have a High level of ability in BSL.

They will be required to have in depth knowledge of the Deaf Community and Culture also be familiar with the processes and practices of an SQA approved training centre. They must also have an in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of Public Service providers  so that the Deaf Community can have equal access to them.

They will be a highly motivated Manager with experience in managing and supporting office staff to achieve the aims of the project in supporting the Deaf Community.

Development Officer

40 hours a week. Some evening and weekend work.

£22,000 per annum

Based in Fountain Business Centre

Coatbridge ML5 3AA

The project coordinator will work closely with the centre manager to deliver the Deaf Information Hub project. They must be self motivated and have BSL skills at SCQF level 8 or equivalent with extensive knowledge of various public services providers to support the Deaf Community when accessing and using services. To support the various Deaf groups within the centre and to work in partnership with public service providers. Admin skills will include MS office. They must be competent in the use of social media.


40 hours a week. Some evening and weekend work.

£16,000 per annum

Based in Fountain Business Centre

Coatbridge ML5 3AA

The admin worker will work with the Centre coordinator and the project coordinator to support them in delivering the project.

They will require to have BSL at SCQF 8 or equivalent. They will be familiar with admin procedures and be able to communicate fluently in email and on the phone with other service providers.

All of the above posts will require an In-Depth knowledge of the Deaf community and its Culture.
