Home-Start is a charity that supports pregnant families and families with at least one child under the age of 5 years old. Volunteers are trained and visit families once a week in their own home offering practical and emotional support.
Quite often are families are experiencing difficult times and are looking for a listening ear. Volunteers can also accompany families to access local services and groups. Home-Start aims to build on a family's confidence each week and empower them, improving outcomes for both parents and children.
If you can spare 2-3 hours a week to support a family in the Bellshill locality including; Holytown, Newarthill, Carfin, New Stevenson and Viewpark, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteers attend training one day a week for 7 weeks learning more about Home-Start and the volunteer role, before being placed with a family. Additionally, volunteers have on going support from their coordinator and opportunities for additional training. There is no essays or exams during the training, we only ask you to participate each week in the discussions.
The next training and assessment course will commence on Monday 22nd April at 9.30, based at the YMCA, Bellshill. Lunch and travel expenses provided
