The UK Climate Assembly has just published its final report setting out how the UK can reach its legally binding target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 (The Scottish government target is net zero by 2045). This is the first UK citizens assembly on this vital issue and its findings are important and need to influence UK and devolved government policy and public understanding and engagement.
The report sets out the Assembly’s recommendations in 10 key areas including:
- how we travel
- what we eat and how we use the land
- we buy
- heat and energy use in the home
- how we generate our electricity
- and greenhouse gas removals.
We will be discussing this report at the next meeting of North Lanarkshire’s Climate Emergency Network on Monday 9th November 10-11-12.30. If you would like to register for this meeting please reply to firstname.lastname@example.org
