Green Health in North Lanarkshire

The Lanarkshire Green Health Partnership aims to connect people to nature. One of the ways they do this is by encouraging people to get involved in green health volunteering.

As part of this work, the Green Volunteering Network (made up of groups who offer volunteering opportunities in an outdoor setting) meets together every couple of months.  The network provides a forum for organisations with similar aims to develop a united voice to promote green health volunteering and consider ways to enrich the quality and accessibility of volunteering in the outdoors.

Fresh Start - Re-Launch Event

Fresh Start NL was set up a few years ago as a result of the Syrian Resettlement Programme. Its aim is to promote equality and integration within and between communities in North Lanarkshire - with a focus on education, health, welfare and social inclusion for refugee, minority ethnic, migrant communities and others who are moving and settling in North Lanarkshire.

Community Capacity Building and Carer Support Rebrand

The Community Capacity Building and Carer Support stakeholders are delighted to confirm they have now rebranded to ‘Community Solutions’.  The decision to rebrand the Programme came after feedback from the December 2018 Joint North Lanarkshire Wide consortium at which community members mentioned they wanted to see far less jargon in the Programme (and across Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire more widely).

Child Services Partnership (CSP)

The CSP is the partnership initiative which supports improvements in services for children, young people and families. The CSP strategy is underpinned by the Scottish Government Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) framework. The Third Sector Children and Families Network are currently reviewing how its members can engage more effectively with the CSP, which includes a Partnership Board, several thematic working groups and locality groups.

Tackling Climate Change in North Lanarkshire Event

The Tackling Climate Change event hosted by VANL provided an initial opportunity for the community and voluntary sector in North Lanarkshire to be updated on climate issues and discuss current and future actions by the sector to contribute to reductions in carbon emissions in North Lanarkshire.

The session took place after Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire’s AGM and started off with a welcome and introduction by VANL’s CEO, Maddy Halliday.

Fair Start Scotland Evaluation Report

In 2015, the Scottish Government undertook public consultation to develop a new approach to delivering employment support services. The consultation response was called ‘Creating a Fairer Scotland: A new future for employability support in Scotland’ which laid the foundation for the design of new services that were devolved to Scotland in 2017, having previously been delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) across the UK.
